Afraid Of Tomorrow Poem by Sally Minns

Afraid Of Tomorrow

Rating: 5.0

As the sun sets.
I close my eyes
I want to sleep but I can’t
For tomorrow always scares me
Even if today was good
No tears were shed
My hand was held
My heart was full
Still sleep does not come
I open my eyes and look at the stars
Each one holds a wish
I try to count them but I get lost among them
They are calming
And yet tomorrow still scares me
I close my eyes once again
I see you there
You whisper “I’ll be there tomorrow. With you.”
I’m no longer afraid
The moon shines high
I sleep like a child
Tomorrow will come
No tears will be shed
My hand will be held
My heart will be full
With you there
I am scared of the future
Sad of the past
But with you there it’s all, all right
