A World That Lives Poem by gordon francis

A World That Lives

We hear the sound of a washer washing
and we imagine a boat leaving a dock.
We feel the sound of a hammer hammering
and we sense the music of a wood-peacer pecking.
We see the beauty of a distant mountain
and we stand in awe to listen to its message.
We smell the aroma of freshly brewed coffee
and we are transported to another distant world.
We touch the smoothness of a newly found rock
and we become engrossed in the magnificence of nature.
Our minds reach out
for a world beyond ours
but within ours
somewhere in the creative world of the mind
somewhere between reality an unreality
intertwined
intermingled
partly real
partly surreal
creatively dreaming
a world that lives
inside
a world that lives
outside
a world that lives!
