A World Asunder Poem by Pensive Phoenix

A World Asunder

Rating: 5.0

I see a burning inferno
Just beneath the surface of the world
It’s clouded, reeling with their screams
O madness, it seems so real
Can you hear their crying
Can you feel them dying
Choking for a chance
While the leaders shake their hands

And the bombs that dropped at night
As we fight over modern vices
They hungered for a sympathy
They thirsted with a dignity
Teaching us our choices
So why do we have this government
Who uttered words they never meant
Who shook the hands that scratched their backs

What’s wrong with this place
Do we even know
Can we ever get it like it was before
I can see it in their eyes
The fear and demise
Standing in silence
Too afraid to even cry
Is it any wonder that it has all fallen asunder
