A Woe-Filled Tale Of A Flood-Ravaged Vale Poem by Dr John Celes

A Woe-Filled Tale Of A Flood-Ravaged Vale

The water that's so dear to life
Has turned to be our strife;
It takes away lives very dear,
And puts us all in fear.

The floods have played havoc on earth,
Destroying everything;
With loved ones lost, we curse our birth,
God's mercy seems a dearth.

The vibrant verdure vale is now
A lake or inland sea;
The houses by the river-banks
Have vanished all fully.

Many are trapped on house roof-tops,
Wet without food or drink;
Have mercy God on us earthlings,
Save us or we will sink.

The rain has brought us sufferings,
No words can well describe;
Give us respite and stop the rains,
Do hear our pleas from heart.

Disaster ruined years of toil;
Allow the sun to shine;
Dry up the water, show the soil;
Give lives back that were fine.

The logistics of aid is great;
The water proved its might;
Have mercy on the human race;
Both look same, day and night!

If not for you, who can fetter
The Nature's furious trends?
Open your heart of kindness, love,
And heal our bruised lives.
