A Vermont New Year Poem by James W. Spain

A Vermont New Year

Rating: 5.0

The deep snow
cushioned each step

as I walked into the deep
forest towards my cabin.

With the artic weather there was
a lack of wildlife leaving the

forest in silence with
frozen branches dancing in the moonlight

and offering there own
cadence as I marched forward.

The thought of the warm fire
just moments ahead of me

kept me moving
at a brisk pace

as I yearned for the peace
and comfort

that this New Year's eve would provide
alone with my memories…
