A Toast! Poem by Mary Naylor

A Toast!

Rating: 5.0

stepped into a day
That was wild and gray.
A flourish of gold leaves trimmed the blast
As a kaleidoscope of memories of you ushered past.

A toast of icy air, to old love letters and corsages crackly with age.
Here's to two lovers, laughing and dancing on life's turning page!
Frigid air pushes past me, like a wild beast, aghast,
But I hold fast to our memories of the past.

A toast, a toast, to two who became one!
Dear, didn't we have our day in the sun?
Yes, we parted and went our ways.
Now, you're in eternity. May our paths cross again one day!

Maljanne!
Bon Voyage!

This is such a youthful poem, filled with optimism and buoyancy. I love 'corsages crackly with age'. You words are a wonderful advertisement for the value of writing poetry to keep you young and interesting. Splendid poetry. love, Allie ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
