A Thing Of The Past Poem by Francis Duggan

A Thing Of The Past

It is true about rhyme it is a thing of the past
But then few things in time ever does seem to last
A popular form of writing many years ago
Going back in time some six decades or so
Rhyme was quite popular when i was a boy
And reading them was something i used to enjoy
But time brings with it changes as the wise one does say
And what once was popular is not so today
In the twenty first century by literary critics a rhymer is not a poet
And is one not worthy of literary note
And though the days of rhyme are in the long gone
Thanks to those who love rhyme today it does live on
In those who love rhyme in every pub sing along
Rhyme is alive in every popular song.
