A Socialite Poem by Francis Duggan

A Socialite

Most of those she went to school with in cemeteries lay
But she in her nineties seems quite well today
An actress and storyteller and poetry she does write
She remains as she always was a socialite
She wears heavy makeup for to cloak time's decay
And her hair she dyes blond for to cover her grey
Her long term husband to her is different in he does not seek the limelight
Though out of the public eyes with him she has many a verbal fight
But that she likes to portray a good public appearance not hard to understand
When out on the town with him she walks hand in hand
One of the town's most attractive when in her life's prime
But like everyone does she is losing out to time
Among the like minded she has many a friend
And she will be a socialite until her life's journey's end.
