A silent spring,
Birds all gone.
Only the wind
Whispers at dawn.
What sounds are here?
Where is their song?
I don't hear one.
The silent spring long.
An ear tied to ground,
"Where are you beloved sound? "
Straining, stretching up an inch.
Still absence of the finch.
No birds singing for so long.
Can my eye find some song?
Looking up in trees to listen,
Eyes still alone start to glisten.
There never was bird song to hear
And there never will, is my fear.
I want to go and be alone,
But I'm already there, silence grown.
