Michael, in a month you will be retiring,
Leaving JBD in Bushey,
To make your new home in Scotland,
A Sassenach living in the Toon of Glasgee.
No longer being on shift work,
Dictated by the powers that be,
Helping the ailing tenants,
Who have become friends to you and me.
Not an easy task have you had here,
Coping with tenants’ problems, views and foibles,
Woken by some at unearthly hours,
With non-emergencies and troubles.
You are going to lead a New Life,
With time controlled by you,
Walking amongst the Lochs and Highlands,
Enjoying the wonderful views.
The change in climate you will notice,
No more excessive heat will you have,
As the snow and cold in winter
Can be excessively bad.
