A Quiet Prayer Poem by Ravi Upadhye

A Quiet Prayer

Nearing midnight!
A mundane day comes to an end!
I peep out of the window,
The old British bungalow
With its red tiles and stone walls
Are as still as the night
The silence is soothing
And not eerie
I get time to be with myself
Moonlight filters through the still leaves
Giant banyan tree too is still
Probably fast asleep
I can hear the silence
Unlike sound, silence makes me smile
Just sitting in the quietude
Soothes my mind, my entire being
Time to call it a day
In the lap of the giant banyan tree
Bathed in streaming moonshine! !
A gentle prayer comes to my lips
There is nothing to ask
He has given me everything without asking
My mind fills with,
Just gratitude and peace!
