A Poet's Curse Poem by Richard Trembath

A Poet's Curse

The lines you write and what I read
Are not always the same
For what you mean is yours to know
Your thoughts are yours to name

Interpretation plays its part
Within the wider sphere
And what I read into your lines
Your thoughts may not adhere

I only hear the tale you tell
As it relates to me
I may not see within your words
What you and others see

But my thoughts only add to yours
With an alternate view
And give the picture that you paint
A wider, deeper hue

To not be easily understood
Is every poet's curse
But viewing through another's eyes
Enhances yet your verse
