A Pity Party Poem by Jessica Lindsey

A Pity Party

Rating: 5.0

She is beautiful, I am just me
How could I deny jealousy
When I see your arm around her waist
That you used to put around me.
I don't hate her for catching you when she walked by
She can't help that she's blonde and has blue eyes
But in my soul there's a dent
That you left when you went
And I don't know how
To get it unbent.
I stand in the mirror and study my face
Wond'ring what about it does not fit your taste
And then I get angry because in my mind
Green eyes don't deserve second place.
Then I start to cry, then I call myself dumb
And I go and sit on my bed and
As I stare into space, I imagine a place
Where your arm is around me instead.
(And she was never born.)

And then I get angry because in my mind Green eyes don't deserve second place. True. I love green eyes. Excellent expression of your soft feelings. Loved the poem.
