A Piece Of Heaven Poem by Rick Harris

Seems like most days I'm always on the go
Doing this or that, my engine always 'revvin
But once in a while, I stop and take it slow
Relaxing in my little piece of heaven.

I like to sit on my deck, reading or just listening
The sounds of nature is all I hear
The day is brand new, the dew on the grass still glistening
Times like this, I feel God is very near.

Although my deck is just a wooden deck
In my mind, I'm sitting in the garden of Eden
Totally at peace, calm and not a fret
Just me and God, that's all I'm needing.

I'm just relaxing by God's beautiful shore
Listening to the waves and watching birds fly overhead
Feeling God's love wash over me, more and more
I regard this time with Him very sacred.

But all too soon, the time is short and I feel pressed
My job is calling, and I must face another work filled day
But this time has been well spent; I'm now refreshed
He's in my heart, and everything will be ok.

I'm now ready to go, my engines revvin'
Thanks to my little piece of heaven.
