A Pathetic Love Poem

Your words are kind and you are nice,
but to think that you could be to others,
the way you are to me, murders a thousand smiles
and makes me want to take you to task.
You just showed up; shocked and awed, then left
leaving a walking wreck of me - super reclusive and bereft

will you ever see what I fail to show?
and if you do will it make any difference?
that with outspread wings, my mind chases things in my bed
while I try to fall asleep with thousand fireflies inside my head
Yes! I live in pursuit of your ghost
drugging reason with songs and secret fantasies

nothing doing; you blot everything out
Get me smitten with tacky movie lines
fill me with the thrill of a schoolboy's first crush
bittersweet, incomplete... hyper-frenzied
Without a move, you set the groove
First seduce, but then subtly refuse

Damn this distance and your nuances
damn your indifference to my advances
It falls like acid on my wishes
damn every other man who turns you on
damn everything that catches your attention
Do they know the way I love you? ...do you?

And life goes on; everything in place
Except for some wasted hearts fallen in a one-sided love
Fallen and scattered around the globe, out of hope
Dying every moment to grow, to live...
yet choked and too agitated even for rosy lines
forget about sonnets, couplets or rhymes

And after years of trying to get, and forget you...
of headbanging in mosh pits and writing love poems
of waiting for another chance and getting older
of bruising my heart and recycling my hopes
of lingering around yet not getting closer
of holding on to this dream... dazed yet unfazed!

this loveboat drifts further... without an oar...
