A Parrot's Song Of Sorrow Poem by vasudevan Desikachari

A Parrot's Song Of Sorrow

Rating: 5.0

A Parrot in the cage
Of a fortune-teller,
Was left for a while
In its cage sans the clutches
Of his surveillance!
And soon the poor Parrot
Began to cry and
It was a cry not robust,
As it wont to be,
But was one of sorrow and pain;
Nay, a moan of agony
And subtle sadness,
Conveying its yearning for freedom
To fly into the orchards,
of fruits and nuts of its liking,
Where it can finds its mate of liking
To talk and play day long;
But alas! its wings are shattered
By the fortune-teller sans mercy,
Who makes a living
Keeping the poor parrot,
As his medium to speak!
The poor parrot cries still
For freedom to fly, in his absence,
An yearning of a soul in distress;
Will the God ever hear it?
And will the parrot ever be free
To fly and join its mate?

Thought this was a wonderful poem! Poor parrot only wanting it's freedom to fly away and find a mate! Very well written, great rhythm and rhyme throughout! Enjoyed reading it! Thank you for sharing. RoseAnn
