A New Beginning Poem by Amy Cadler

A New Beginning

Rating: 5.0

In autumns early bloom,
A bee is nestled near;
And dawns appear
At coming noon.

The blades of grass
Are full of dewdrops,
So crystal clear
In daylights coming gleam.

A pond stands near
Threading ice,
With fishes sinking deep.
And there a child's born.

It shakes its mane,
Its pale and wavy;
Like sunlight rays
Dancing through grass.

He tries to stand,
Then tumbles,
On his four legs,
And mom comes near.

The creature feeds
And days pass by,
It grows quite strong,
And stands up tall.

The mother nudges it,
Then neighs.
But he won’t go
Not tacking one step.

But winters coming
And snow is falling
So shelter they must find.
And so they move on.

A strong tan colt
Is what he is,
But, weak he’ll grow
If winter stays to long.

And so the years pass by,
And mother fades away.
He’s all alone.
Beginning his own story.
