'A Message From Beyond' Poem by Emmanuel Dika

'A Message From Beyond'

I knew a smile
Rose each morning
Full of grace
Giving hope
A sun ascending to its peak
To brighten our world
'home to home'
It felt so safe in its day
Watching the rains fall
A rainbow it formed
So beautiful was the sky
It made our hearts glad
But weak was our guard
No warning from the towers
An eclipse came along
And shot right at our sun
A wicked act, so heinous
How Precious its blood
Laid waste at mid-day
Smiles gone
Beauty lost
The world gone dark
Little legend's fallen

Through the night
I watched the sky
Deep in thought
Wishing it was not
Amidst tears
I asked why
20 stars stare at me
A symbol I could see
'A message it passed
From the grave beyond'
The message of peace
They have died
Let it live
