A Memory Of You Poem by Leonard Snow

A Memory Of You

I met you in the Grand Canyon
you were glowing in the sun
We shared our dreams as we explored the valleys
and I knew then you were the one

I confessed to you by a Scottish lake
where fireworks lit the sky
You whispered that you loved me too
and gently embraced me with a sigh

We courted in the Scandivanian countryside
with picnics of songs and wine
At night we gazed up at the stars
your hand clasped tightly in mine

I proposed to you in the Paris winter
on bended knee out in the cold
Your cheeks flushed, you choked out a yes
your tears fell into the snow

We said our vows on a Spanish beach
the sunny breeze licking your face
When you walked toward me in that perfect dress
I felt everything fall into place

We danced in a Mexican festival
jealous blokes stared at the ring on your hand
I grinned wildly as I twirled you around
thinking, 'Too bad boys, I'm her man! '

We honeymooned on the islands of Greece
the best two weeks of my life
Waking up beside you I pinched myself
I couldn't believe I had this amazing wife

I lost you in coastal Japan
towering waves swept you out to sea
I mourned alone and cursed the fates
for taking you away from me

I found peace in the mountains of Tibet
reflection freed my heart anew
Perhaps this world was never made
for one as beautiful as you
