A Man For All Seasons Poem by The Dreamer

A Man For All Seasons

Rating: 5.0

Mickey Mantle died today
Old #7 has passed away
He would die of cancer so they say
But old #7 he sure could play
This was a man of the baseball kind
Who would take me back
To a better place in time
Yes, Mickey Mantle dies today
And all that history
Passed away
And to that I would like to say
Thank you, Mickey for the younger days
You will live forever in so many ways In memory of Mickey Mantle 1931to 1995

I enjoyed your poem - I liked your brisk, economical tone -I felt close to this man or at least his essence as nothing got in the way - maybe the last line staggered a bit - I'd have liked to seen the poem end with the second last line - maybe with a dedication at the top - thankyou for this poem
