A Love Sonnet Poem by Patricia Denise Newman

A Love Sonnet

They say that love is blind, but who are they
that have not seen your face, your eyes, your hair,
that cannot know the loss when you're not there,
nor listened for the words you do not say.
Who are they that crush my dearest dreams
and dull my senses with their dreary lives,
that have not felt the joy that often drives
out hope for the fulfillment of my schemes.
Must I not strive to make my dreams come true,
to find the joy and happiness I seek?
The love I have has never made me weak,
but strengthened my resolve in all I do.
They cannot know, within their thoughts so bleak,
the tenderness and love I share with you.
