A Little Girl Poem by Eli McCallister

A Little Girl

Rating: 5.0

A little girl swept up by death in October's hefty wind.
Curled up to keep the warmth of her dead mother's love
awaiting to join her in a place so bright.
But at least tonight she has her little toy bear.

Her dad left in a rush to kill her mother
for protecting her daughter from the hatred of abuse.

How come it did not work?

How come she wanted to die so young?

How come in one day she will go from curling up by
a dumpster to flying above the clouds in her mother's loving arms?

She does not want to die yet, too young,
but she wants to end it all now
The pain, the horror, the screaming in the middle of the night,
memories of being locked in the attic......

...One week later the cops will find her warm but not alive, Why?
Her mother protected her not just from abuse, but... but
she couldn't protect her from DEATH.!

A stunning piece of writing in every sense, no need whatsoever to ask if this is fictional or not, very well done for finding the inner strength and beauty to want to share this critical message with others. I only hope that your message finds the audience it deserves. Take care! Neil.
