A Litany Of Love (For N.A.H.) Poem by John Thorkild Ellison

A Litany Of Love (For N.A.H.)

Is it a crime
That forever I'm
Going through phases
And juvenile crazes?
All of the time
I look for a rhyme,
Searching for phrases
For singing your praises,
I want you so badly
And love you so madly
I just can't resist you
Though I never have kissed you!
It would take me forever
And yet still I would never
Have got the words right
For the beautiful sight
Of those sweet precious charms
I'd like to hold in my arms!
Yes, holding you tight
All through the night
Would bring me more joy
Than any girl or boy
Could ever have felt
Or Fate could have dealt
To this lonely old heart!
The truth of the matter
Is I'm mad as a hatter
And just can't control
My strange wayward soul,
So never say never,
I love you forever,
My heart's sweet delight
My star shining bright,
My dearest sweet friend
World without end!
