A Life Alone Poem by Cassandra Howell

A Life Alone

Do you ever feel broken?
Do you ever wish your feelings could be spoken?
All you feel is darkness and hate
Every little thing is dangling like bait
You reach for it and it bites you
Then you are deeper than you ever knew

You are caught up in a deceitful trap
Now you are sitting on the devil's lap

Blackness has taken over your heart
It cuts and stabs you like a dart

All you want is for someone to care
Someone who listens and is always there
But no one can be seen
Only the devil and his smiling gleam
You never show your pain
When all inside you is screaming in vain
It tears you down day after day
Until you will never again be okay

Life is a nightmare
It follows you everywhere
You try to fight it off
But no matter what, it will always be there to scoff

Slowly, you start crumbling into nothing
All your life, you knew you'd never be something

So you decide to end this awful dream
Will it be as great as it seems?
Anything is better than this
For there is no one here for you to miss
So you grab a knife and give the world a kiss
