A Letter To My Past Poem by Oreoluwa Sanni

A Letter To My Past

Kids like you don't go that far,
Because you're too emotional
just where you are.

I resent you,
And I might call you weak energy,
But it's because you remind me of the parts that I hate about me.

It's a cold world out there
And you can be easily prey.

Those emotions could be an obstacle,
another's gonna leave you again.

But pay attention
Cause those emotions could be a valuable asset.

everything you feel's all just energy,
You just haven't learnt how to harness it yet.

It could power unbelievable projects you haven't even imagined,

Here's an analysis but to you later might be common sense.

Anger fuels to discharge,
Love fuels to flourish,
Pain could be a drug especially when it's mixed with fear.

Be careful what type of energy you feed on,
That thing can really affect you to the core.

Sometimes a breather can save your life
So learn how to exhale and inhale.
Do not pick up a blunt.
Here's my reason why,
People are trying to escape
So do not let your health fail.

When you feel something take it in
And try to express it through artistic means,
You might feel much better after you've done this and perhaps create amazing things.

Sometimes emotions are similar to defecating,
Somethings you just need to let out.

All this could be all meaningful to you
Or it might not have any meaning yet,
But it's something that would still have meaning to you,
Cause I write this in present tense,
and remember,
sometimes it's okay to vent.

I write these words to you.
A letter to my past.
