A Leap Of Hope Poem by Aman Biswas

A Leap Of Hope

I try to move forward, i swear i do
These chains of despair restrain me, hold me back
Chains i bound myself to, which foretell of a moat ahead
Which i'll fall into, if i try to progress

And yet i try to move ahead
My subconscious fueling my hope, as it fuels my move forth
My feet itching to surge ahead, willing to break the chains i set
Promising to jump the fall below, and run towards where my sight sees hope

I go, i run, i jump and yet
I fall, i fall deep below to where i had always belonged
I remember, the memories rushing back to me
The encounters i had repressed, to give me my false hope

And yet, it doesn't fade
Yet when i lie here, hope tells me there is a way
A way to get where i want to be, and not where everyone says i have to be
Hope tells me it was never fake, it was always real because it always was

I brought myself above the moat before, to find a dawn that always shone
'But i no longer want that' i said, it replied 'I know, because i am a part of you'
'Work towards what you want, for they may abandon you but i'll be here beside you'
And so i hold on and stand up, even while my feet give way

I try to move towards where i want, not forward, nor back
Towards the way i want, not forward nor back
To create a path that goes beyond the line i walked on
To walk on a path that i had once dreamed, and now once again dream of.
