A Hope From New Year Poem by Mohammad Akmal Nazir

A Hope From New Year

Rating: 5.0

The arrival of a guest is very near,
He is the harbinger of peace and expectation,
For us he will be like a seer,
Who will teach us the lesson of affection.

We shall welcome him with great zeal,
The clouds of uncertainy will dispel,
The wounds of ambitions he will heal,
The vampire of hatred he will repel.

The nightingales will sing the song of love,
The whole garden will celebrate his arrival,
Whether it is linnet or the charming dove,
They will be hopeful about their survival.

Peace he will bring alongwith him,
The world will be a better place to live,
The prospects of opression will be dim,
To us such a great joy he will give.

He will release mankind from risk and fear,
We shall welcome him
in the form of New Year.

'Peace he will bring alongwith him, The world will be a better place to live, The prospects of opression will be dim, ' How I would celebrate if this was true sadly history does not agree we rue years ago long ago back in 1982 I wrote 'Celebrations abound, a warm Christmas day, but for the poverty-stricken poor, another hungry day. The Christmas Spirit, barely remembered now a gluttonous feast, chicken, wine. Who cares for the precepts of another time? ' The poem State Of 20th Century Man is a poem where sadly reality bites!
