A Good Showdown Poem by Airda Jones

A Good Showdown

I'm not wise enough
To play this game
This one that you
Know so well by name

I've seen opponents
They come and they go
And they all
Put on quite a show

Taking their turn
Thinking I'm a fool
Pretending to let me win
But they break the rules

Their timer runs out
Leaving my piece where it stands
I lost after all
With my heart in my hands

Don't ask me to play
'Cause I can't say I want to
As tempting as it may be
I can't, even with you.
