A Piece Of Heart For A Memory Poem by Airda Jones

A Piece Of Heart For A Memory

Creeky boards will never sound the same
As the haunting sound will never be there
Grass will never feel the same
Under my feet and body, as it held me there
Winds will never smell the same
As they had wrapped sweetly around me
Skies will never shine as they did
As there is no place closer to Heaven as there
Hands will never blacken as they did
Coal dusted and coated through the fields
Flowers will never bloom as they did
Colors unimaginable and aromas trapped only there
Those stories will never be heard again
Not as they were told there, sitting on our own history
Those laughs will never be sounded again
Not when they had been completely carefree
Those smiles will never be seen again
As there was only one place that holds them

My ears will long for that loud silence
My mouth will ache to talk to those mountains
My feet will weaken to feel the only stable ground I had
My eyes will beg to see it, just one more time, though I know I can't

Still, it will always remain...

*Dedicated to that special place I had to say goodbye to this past week. The wondrous times you have brought to the family and the inspiration you gave for my writing, it will never be forgotten, not one single moment*
