A Gift For Giving: A Found Poem Poem by Frank Avon

A Gift For Giving: A Found Poem

Forgiveness is a gift
we give ourselves; not
the person we forgive
but ourselves. When we harbor
resentment and vitriol
we only harm ourselves.

Everything is forgivable;
some things are inexcusable
but everything is forgivable.

As noted above, this found poem has been adapted from an essay by Linda Thompson, Bruce Jenner's second wife and the mother of his sons, Brandon and Brody. Cf. http: //www.huffingtonpost.com/linda-thompson/bruce-jenner-linda-thompson_b_7080918.html

I only wish I could be so forgiving, or at least could forget pangs from childhood that still haunt me and taunt me.

I completely agree, Frank. I have forgiven some atrocities committed against me and have palpably felt the release. (I only wish that the forgetting part was as easy)
