A Friendship Equation

let’s talk about friends, there are some very good friends
and there are those people who are bad, very bad friends!

those bad friends like to lie, and say lots of bad things about you
they will say to everyone, you look like an animal at the zoo!

yes good friends will always give you a helping hand
and no, they do not flip you with a rubber band!

be careful, bad friends will do their best to tear you apart
always looking to steal your love and rip out your heart!

very good friends will bring flowers when you are down
they do not laugh, and make you look like a clown!

those bad friends always say no, when you ask for a favour
if you are drowning, you can forget it, they throw no life saver!

and yes, good friends will give you a ride when your car stops
look out, if there is a bomb they will stay with you, until it pops!

good friends will give you a party, just because they like you
sure they would love to give you a brand new spaceship
it’s not what they give you that's important, what counts
is always their love, and the true gift is their friendship!

when bad friends give you a party, always be very careful
they may be planning your funeral with a brand new drug
so with these friends, you may want to be very cautious
cause they may hire a hit man, who is a real street thug!

ok everyone listen up, now that I have your full attention
I know you must be wondering, and I can't forget to mention
how does a true wonderful friendship, fit into this equation?
you plus a good friend, equals to, one true lasting friendship!

Try not to ask favours from a friend there when the friendship itself in danger. Also don't give a heavy debt which is also danger since loan receives with thanks and returns with hue and cry. However friendship is necessary for a human being because we are human beings and society is our protection and its concern is important. A beautiful poem that said about the friendship and much talked about it in good language. (Report) Reply

You use a kind of point/counterpoint format in pitting good friends against bad friends, which generates many situations and storylines. It strikes me you could write a whole volume of short stories by fleshing out the narrative threads contained in the couplets. Friendship is such a familiar experience either in real terms or in daydreams that we easily take it for granted, so your poem does alert us to the value of good friends and the danger of bad ones. And we have another reason to count our blessings. Question: Was friendship invented in primeval times the way the wheel was invented, or animals domesticated? Or was friendship something in the soul that living together brought out? There might be a poem in those questions! Thanks for this affirmative poem! (Report) Reply

Nice poem to read friend. While reading this poem, i wished myself as a good friend for my friends. In your words, may i say... 'you + a good me (me being good is a wish) = a good lasting friendship'. (Report) Reply

A really true description of the world of friends. There are fake friends and real friends, and the latter are worth
their weight in gold while the fake ones hang around since days of old. Just know the difference and you will be happy. Loved this oh so true poem! Thanks! (Report) Reply

1st grade.... unconditional friendship (true friend)
2nd grade.... friendship for certain period or spell (transitional friend)
3rd grade.... friendship on a need (3rd c..l...a...s...s...) (Report) Reply

When the hours of Day are numbered,
And the voices of the Night
Wake the better soul, that slumbered,

Ere the evening lamps are lighted,
