A Floating Notion Poem by Steve Santerre

A Floating Notion

Rating: 5.0

The hymn of solemn repose
The state of quietude, of unspoken wisdom
By the seasoned tree, a view of the openness,
Away from distraction and intrusion, a distant land
Observance, and discovery, made to understand
The mystery no longer unknown, no longer vague to man
Anything and everything that comes to me, I know I can
Grasp it, explore, and become, to make one
A floating notion, a cloud of ideas, rain on me
The sun, the flame of knowledge, enlighten me
To nature, beginning, the origin of man,
To nature, the end, the test, destiny’s plan.

The ascension of truth, the realization of purpose
The day, the night, the circle is complete,
The cycle of life, the wheel spins only once
At full spin back, to zero, the end of the track
The view of the vastness that is this world
Fly to the next, no ships, no planes, no wings,
But with the will of man, the need, deliverance sings
The hymn of solemn repose.
