A February Day In The Coastal Lands Poem by Francis Duggan

A February Day In The Coastal Lands

Wherever i turn to look Nature's beauty i do see
Today it is everywhere all around me
Though when compared to sprinkler watered green parks of the nearby town
The dry coastal paddocks are looking rather brown
Last night and this morning we had some needed rain
Though dry as a bone every roadside drain
Still how sweet the freshness after rain Wafting in the mildevening breeze
Where the magpies are warbling on the blackwood trees
We learn as we live from Nature every day
In the sunshine white butterflies seemingly do play
The farmers with the rain happy overall
In February three weeks from the southern Fall
The beauty in Nature to view always free
Today it is everywhere all around me.
