A Different Man Poem by Thomas E. Kelly Jr.

A Different Man

You reached out
Time and time again
Only to find
Your love’s end
In blindness
I could not see
The love that
Yurned for me
Like a fool
I’d pass you by
To see not
The emptiness inside
At night you pray
Of memories so fond
You cry today
Tomorrow those tears gone
I took a vow
On our wedding day
To love and respect
I have not been this way
Near tragic happenings
Now have occurred
With eyes now open
Life will change for sure
My life is now
Owed to you
I will spend eternity
Giving back what is due
Do not hate me
For what I’ve done
But love me
For what I will become
