A Difference Poem by latoya fleming

A Difference

Woke up this morning,
Doing my usual routine,
But this time was different,
I looked at my skin,
It was still mark-free,
Dark and lovely,
So that wasn’t it,
I looked at my hair,
Not a strand out of place,
I looked into my eyes,
Brown,
Still filled with Love,
Still not realizing what was different,
So I took the time,
The time to look inside,
I looked at my heart,
It had cracks in it,
From the times….
You broke it,
I looked at my soul,
It seemed as if it was searching,
Searching for you,
Then I thought to myself,
Damn,
The difference is….
You,
Becoming a stranger,
Right before my eyes.
