A Description Of Self Poem by elvashira silvertongue

A Description Of Self

Earth is what my body made of,
It most of all ties me to what i was before.
Water of life is what flows through these vains,
Crimson in color it sings calling to the one i adore.
Air is what my breath is made of,
Allowing me to dare to dream of flight once more.
Fire is what my spirit is made of,
Allowing these deep emotions to run though my core unashamed.

Wonderful P-O-E-T-I-C description of yourself, using the traditional FOUR ELEMENTS of creation which still has a poetic truth even though it is not literal. I use this Four Elements Philosophy myself because it connects us to so many previous poets. And you do more than just assert these elements as components of Self - you also S-H-0-W how they display your personality, eg. Earth = what I was and will become, and of course Earth-stuff is also Star-stuff. And Air makes me realize I am of that element and can fly through it and will again (Brilliant poetic reasoning!) This is neither a scientific nor a psychological description of SELF - it is an ancient wisdom of the kind only expressible in poetry in today's world, our prose is altogether too literal, and your poem fully embodies this ancient wisdom. Brava, Elvashira! This poem makes us kindred spirits through poetic vision and MANY OTHERS agree with it, I'm sure of that. (See next box for my version of this same POETIC VISION of self. It's a stanza of a poem called A DEGREE OF INTENSITY.)
