A Day At The Er Poem by shalini mascarenhas

Yesterday I been to the hospital as
I had to take my smallest one to the ER
I could not stand there for long
Every picture of Joe being in the hospital came alive
I was shivering
I was trying to hold back my tears
I was trying to stand straight,
My legs felt like jelly and all wobbly, but
I just kept walking up and down
All the nurses came to say hello to me
I controlled myself
And I just smiled

I was staring at the surroundings
As if I could find something there
Yes he was there and not there
Oh what a feeling it was for me
When I came back from the hospital
Feeling all low and tears filled in my eyes

I let the tears roll down
And breathed a sigh
Then I came out quickly from the hospital
For,
Some reason I felt like
I wanted to stay a bit longer in the hospital
But why?
