A Cherub Poem by kunjubi varghese

A Cherub

Rating: 5.0

You came as a fairy entering excitedly
Through the enchanting door of rainbows.
The orchids in my soul, blossomed
In the rapture of that maiden love.
I forgot my intuitions, since the tendril of
My passions were founded on mundane thirsts.
I coveted to swim and bathe in the sacred river
Of the Milky Way, with my beloved, in glee.

Are they teardrops in the corner of those eyes?
Are you ill disposed with me, my darling?
Or is that, due to the timid modesty in your mind?
Spreading a reddish orange hue of the evening sky
On your endearing cheeks, like a cherub.
The turbulent sky calmed down inside the mind.
The moon and the stars are now dazzling in celestial glory.
Indelible desires and memories of yester years
Throng into the conscious mind’s eye
Will you thwart a kiss if I just offer it,
On your vermilion clad forehead to blot out
The beads of perspiration, lurking there?
