A Change For The Worse Poem by Dr John Celes

A Change For The Worse

How people can change o'er the years!
It looks so strange and much absurd;
A tragic fact, reality,
That causes pain much in one's heart.

When people change just for the worse,
They have no excuse good to give;
With principles thrown in the wind,
Selfishness rules their hearts and minds.

The years of rearing vanishes
And parents' struggles, sacrifice;
Religious tenets are forgot;
People behave in awful ways.

Love for the neighbor seems so rare;
Hatred afills most hearts of love;
Coldness in attitude prevails;
‘They say they are now worldly-wise! '

Years of hard-work and harmony
Is now a sad thing of the past;
How families get so estranged!
Each one can be so unfriendly.

Friends have become worse than strangers;
Relatives have become scattered;
Some people known are worse than foes;
The world has gone topsy-turvy!

Welcome is change for better, good;
But none can accept change for worse;
It happens among kith and kin!
The world has just gone upside down!

The world has gone topsy-turvy! Yes, there seems to be madness eveywhere. Mass shootings, drugs addicts, vandalism. It's the sign of the times.
