A Bumblebee Hopped Poem by Kevin Patrick

A Bumblebee Hopped

Rating: 5.0

A bumblebee hopped
On a foxglove crop
Until pollen dropped

Its bounty was duty
to labor of beauty
to queens of her marquee
but would not reach thirty

Programmed by its biology
It waived an identity
For eternity to its ecology

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Inspired by A bumblebee and Emily Dickinson. I find social insects interesting, how for millions of years they create hives to work together. Its a socialist utopia.

A Bumblebee is such an interesting insect that feeds on pollen. When bumble bee comes to the flowers, we should understand that it is not just devouring the honey, but carries pollen to its hive for the community to thrive. Its social instinct is something inherent and built up in its biological nature. A lovely little poem on Nature.
