A Broken Pair (A Friend To Both) Poem by James Harris

A Broken Pair (A Friend To Both)

There should be more anger in my head
But for now there is a rather awkward calm
Those things that for so long I did dread
Did not at all explode like a bomb

A dear friend is now so terribly hurt
Brought on by another's deep betrayal
If only there had been a way to avert
This failed romance fated to crumble

So very easy it is to lay the blame
On the one who plunged the knife
But on that side one accepts the shame
And must move forward with her life

Let others deal with it how they will
They don't know her troubled heart
There is pain from her that will spill
For that no hatred for her shall I impart

Though one has such an emotional scar
Beside them both is the message I send
One nor the other shall from me be barred
Both shall still remain my dear friends
