A Beautiful Bittersweet Memory Poem by Tiger Lily Love

A Beautiful Bittersweet Memory

The days I spent shedding tears over you
Those nights the pain you inflicted kept me awake

Those beautiful moments we shared
Almost made me forget what was at stake

These memories come rushing back
Bringing A symphony of emotions along too

Yet even though
They send chills down my spine

They are the very reason
I could never be yours again
And you could never be mine

And as much as I've tried to hate you
A beautiful bittersweet memory
Is what you'll always remain

Because I have more to lose now
Then I do to gain
But in the end I must admit...

You were worth the pain.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Inspired by events in my life
and my favorite verse of Taylor Swift's Song Red:

Touching him was like realizing all you ever wanted was right there in front of you
Memorizing him was as easy as knowing all the words to your old favorite song
Fighting with him was like trying to solve a crossword and realizing there's no right answer
Regretting him was like wishing you never found out that love could be that strong

Those beautiful moments we shared Almost made me forget what was at stake And as much as I've tried to hate you A beautiful bittersweet memory Is what you'll always remain Because I have more to lose now Then I do to gain But in the end I must admit... You were worth the pain. I like this one. Gives the thought that it was all for the best. Also like how you skillfully point out that the way things end up doesn't always tarnish your view of another person.

Tiger-very nice. I also love that song :) and I really like your poem it has partially inspired. Takes awhile to come to the final realization you did at the end but Im glad you did. Now you have closure and can start to move on. Really nice job-seems to be a bit different style than your last with the way you set up the verses. I like it.
