A Banished Love. Poem by Palitha Ranatunge

A Banished Love.

I have trekked through a long path
To her land wherein she lived with her
Loving family, kids and pets,

Soft palpitations of her heart
Sent thousand of decoded messages
Through sunlight lit at my dwelling,

The morning birds only sang of our past
The soft gale blowing from a far land
Whispered to me about your whereabouts,

I put up a raft and taking a bamboo stick
As an oar, I rowed and rowed days and months
To be with you in your wonder land far and away,

I knelt before your unparalleled beauty
Feeling that you have strange eyes, that
Showing not any love hidden within,

I was puzzled and sad not knowing
About the banished love from your eyes,
For, I dare not look at them anymore.
