A Bad Day, That Is What It Is Poem by RIC BASTASA

A Bad Day, That Is What It Is

there is no gas for the stove
and the fish is half-cooked
the rice smells like rotten worms
and the kitchen looks like
a garage full of junk

she is still praying
and you wonder if breakfast still exists
you pack your things
and move out trying to spell out
other women's names
