A Bad Choice Poem by Ray Hansell

A Bad Choice

She came to me
With tears in her eyes
I asked, for what reason
Do you cry

She said last night
My heart was broken
Through her tears
Words were hardly spoken

She said the boy
That she loved
Was taken away
By the Lord above

He chose to drink
Then, drive a car
Unfortunately he didn't
Get very far

He lost control
Then hit a tree
Self-destruction
He couldn't flee

I said to her in a whisper
The Lord didn't take him away
He chose his own path to take
On that sad and fateful day

Consequences. That inescapable fact of life. A poignant poem of sad truth, well-written.
