.4. A Good Tip Poem by David Threadgold

.4. A Good Tip

Rating: 5.0

The waitress asked “ready to order”
I said “I’d like that with a please”
A sarcastic please was included
To go with my two fresh cream tea’s

A stain covered cloth on the table
Showed signs of past dinning delight
Raspberry jams, tea and beetroot
With only the border still white

Our tea’s arrived placed with a clatter
Hot tea shot from the pots spout
To land like a dot to dot pattern
That someone would join up no doubt

The bill came to four pounds exactly
My wife said “you’re taking a while”
I was leaving a tip for the waitress
Try clean cloths and serve with a smile
