302. My Childhood Darling Poem by Dipankar Sadhukhan

Whenever I recall my childhood days
I can understand how precious you were.
Still I remember - in the garden of holiness
We would play even till the evening hour.

When I'd wait for you every afternoon,
You would appear before me
Like a fairy with God's boon
To make my restless mind so happy.

Whenever I'd suffer from thirst
And be restless to drink water
You would fill my thirsty earth
With your sacred nectar.

When I'd wait for your company
By the river in the spring days,
You used to come to meet me
And gladden my heart always.

Whenever I'd suffer from loneliness,
Like a song bird you'd sit in my tree
And fill my heart with happiness
By singing a sweet melody for me.

Now I can't meet you my darling
As you are far away from me.
Still within my heart you are dwelling
To make me fresh and lively.
