#215 When Morning Comes Poem by Jimmie Arrington

#215 When Morning Comes

Gradually fades the evening sun,
Behind the hills and out of sight.
The night is young, it’s just begun
And stars welcome the night.
A cool wind blows, a cricket hums
Beneath the moon’s sapphire hue.
In due time, when morning comes,
I’ll still be holding you.

We whisper in each others ears,
Sharing thoughts and dreams.
We clear our minds and wash our fears
In love’s gently flowing streams.
Our hearts pound like beating drums,
Playing the whole night through.
Eventually when morning comes,
I’ll still be kissing you.

Reality hides miles away,
We dwell in the world we made.
We stroll about free and blasé,
Neither controlled nor afraid.
We’re wrapped around each others thumbs,
Lost in a love so true.
Rest assured when morning comes,
I’ll still be loving you.
