1943 Poem by Adam Bieber

1943

Hitler’s cat eyes’ gleam,
tying a noose to the neck
of Europe.

Dangling Jews from his clenched fist,
squeezed like
pigs in carrying cars,
rats in cages,
starved skeletons
moan, intolerant bullets shriek.

Soldiers sadistic roaming,
Dogs barking rabid foaming.

The charred bodies stack to heaven,
hopeless oceans of bodies,
in pillars of smoke,  floating
ashes descend city blocks.
