11/10 Poem by Effie Yalena Steyn

Rating: 2.7

I'll never be the same
Crystal heart in a glass body
High praise for a lady
Hair draped every so softly
I'll address you as 'you old glass'
You are far to fragile, fair.
I'll never feel again
This electrode dulling, absorbed
Sunny days never ending and
A match has been found.
We must not look at how far we've come
We must not buy that time
We must not sing what the future holds
The time is yours, the time is mine.
Tickling grass around my knees, your ankles
Sky high unclouded and unseen
Sneak a camera in to get the wet shirt
Payback, routine, unforced laughter
I'll remember you as summer
You are too strong, stunning.
I'll never feel again
This contentment in linked fingers
Pride in outdoing, raising the bar and
Living for ourselves.
We must not look at how far we've come
We must not buy that time
We must not sing what the future holds
The time is yours, the time is mine.
